This small collection of portraits of Vindbelgjarfjall began during my time living next to Lake Mývatn . The view of the hill from my window made me happy every morning and became the starting point of my daily routine. I tried to capture the feeling of those moments, so I started painting and sketching small images of it. It became something of an obsession—but in a very positive way. I painted it even when I was far away and couldn’t see it. The image of the hill burned itself into my memory. The top of the mountain is my genius loci—a spirit of place I will probably carry with me forever. ~I never went to the top.
