Pine Murmurs features five stylized soft sculptures representing pine trees. Crafted from orange fabric and adorned with bright blue geometric paint, these pieces symbolize the essence of afterimages—a phenomenon where staring at an object for an extended period results in seeing its lingering imprint upon blinking. This visual echo mirrors my childhood experiences of gazing at the sun on summer days, a universal nostalgia that many share. The orange hue of the fabric reflects the color of the pines around the residency, contrasting sharply with the azure blue sky. This vivid contrast served as a profound source of inspiration, bringing forth memories and emotions from their early years. Through these sculptures, I aims to evoke the same sense of wonder and nostalgia that the Finnish landscape instilled in them. Viewers are invited to engage with these pieces, to experience the fleeting afterimages and the sense of familiarity they may evoke. "Pine Murmurs" is not just a visual journey but a bridge to shared memories and emotions, connecting the past with the present.
